Dr Israel Berger
Medical Educator
About the Educator
Dr Israel Berger is a dedicated mental health professional with a diverse and integrative approach, specialising in telehealth-based individual and family counseling, autism assessments for adults and older teens, medicinal cannabis consultations, and smoking cessation. Currently training in psychiatry, he also offers non-specialist mental health services. Driven by his personal experiences as an autistic individual with ADHD and depression, Dr Berger prioritises empathy, accessibility, and informed consent in his practice, particularly for autistic, transgender, trauma-affected, and crisis-experiencing individuals. He is a member of several professional bodies, including AusPATH, where he serves as Treasurer, and is committed to inclusive and holistic care, refusing gatekeeping in gender affirmation services.
Dr Berger’s background includes a PhD in psychology from the University of Roehampton, medical training at the University of Sydney, and further specialisation in youth mental health and pain management. With expertise in multiple therapeutic approaches and research methodologies, he is deeply invested in understanding his patients' unique perspectives and aligning clinical approaches with their individual needs and values.
